WhatsApp Troubleshooting

Last updated: March 10, 2026

WhatsApp integration can occasionally have issues due to Meta's policies, network problems, or configuration changes. This guide covers the most common WhatsApp problems and step-by-step solutions.

1

Messages Not Sending

If outgoing messages are failing, check these in order:

  1. 1. Go to Settings → Integrations → WhatsApp and check connection status
  2. 2. If status shows "Disconnected," click "Reconnect"
  3. 3. Verify your Meta Business Account at business.facebook.com is active
  4. 4. Check if you've exceeded the daily message limit (new accounts: 250/day)
  5. 5. Ensure the patient's number is a valid WhatsApp number
Message delivery status is visible in the chat log: Sent, Delivered, Read, or Failed
2

Number Not Verified

If your WhatsApp number shows as "Not Verified":

  1. 1. Ensure the number is not currently registered with regular WhatsApp
  2. 2. The number must be able to receive SMS or voice calls for OTP
  3. 3. Try the "Voice Call" OTP option if SMS is not received
  4. 4. Wait 24 hours if you've exceeded OTP retry limits
  5. 5. Contact support if the number was previously used with another WhatsApp Business API provider
Porting a number between WhatsApp Business API providers requires a cooldown period
3

Quality Rating Dropped

Meta assigns a quality rating (Green, Yellow, Red) based on patient feedback. If your rating drops:

  1. 1. Review recent messages for overly promotional or spammy content
  2. 2. Reduce message frequency — don't send more than 2 messages per day per patient
  3. 3. Ensure patients are opting in before receiving messages
  4. 4. Check that message templates comply with Meta's policies
  5. 5. A red rating can temporarily limit your messaging — focus on quality to recover
Quality rating recovers over 7 days if patients stop reporting your messages
4

Business Verification Issues

Meta requires business verification for WhatsApp Business API access. If verification is failing:

  1. 1. Ensure your business name matches official registration documents
  2. 2. Upload clear, legible copies of registration certificates
  3. 3. Your business website must be live and match the registered business name
  4. 4. Respond promptly to Meta's verification emails or requests for additional documents
  5. 5. Verification typically takes 2-5 business days — avoid resubmitting during this period
Contact our support team if verification has been pending for more than 7 business days

Important

Never disconnect and reconnect WhatsApp repeatedly in quick succession. This can trigger Meta's anti-spam systems and temporarily block your account.

Prevention Tips

  • Monitor your quality rating weekly in Settings → WhatsApp → Analytics
  • Always use approved message templates for outbound messages
  • Keep your Meta Business Manager email accessible — verification requires it
